Description
Wakeer are medium-sized birdlike Verpets. They have a cone-shaped beak and head which allows them to hollow out and squeeze into rotten trees and logs in the forest. Wakeer also have a pair of elongated feathers on their head which scientists believe may be used to attract mates during courting rituals.
Behavior
In the wild, Wakeer are playful and have even gained a reputation as being forest pranksters, scaring unwary Verpets with their harsh calls and stealing their food. Wakeer are intelligent and if frightened will shriek loudly through a hollow log, producing a repulsive sound which spooks any would-be predator. Wakeers as pets often do not lose their trickster nature and will take and hide any shiny items their owners may possess.
Habitat
Wakeer are found exclusively in forests. They nest and spend their nights in dead trees or inside grounded logs where they are safe from potential predators. During the day they can be found high in any trees chattering with one another while keeping an eye out for any potential meals passing by.
