Scientific Name Aveum aflightous

Description
Aviatrin are flightless bird Verpets. Their excellent eyesight makes them fierce hunters, and their stripes aid to camouflage them as they stalk their pray through the fields of Verpets. The Aviatrin's call is surprisingly beautiful considering their size and nature, and is often likened to singing.
Behavior
The wild Aviatrin is generally laid back, though they always keep their keen eyes open for prowling Chien. If they notice one, the alarm call they raise will alert every Verpet in the area. An owned Aviatrin can be described as stoic, though it is difficult for them to quell their instinct to hunt smaller creatures. Aviatrin owners who also possess smaller Verpets should be careful not to leave them together unattended.
Habitat
They are found in the fields, but if food becomes scarce, Aviatrins have been spotted stalking Querities in the forests and waiting outside the mouths of caves to snatch any Gerster who may venture out to forage.
